Credit Discipline / Credit Management
Tagged in: Untagged
Today, more than ever we have lost our way, with credit cards, bank loans, home equity loans and the like. Not only has our nation as a whole not learned to stop spending more than we make, importing more than we can afford, but our citizens individually have also become in debt to their creditors. Creditors have prayed on the lack of self discipline from consumers who have traded their most precious resource for a cheap thrill. People trade their time, the only resource that truly matters that you cannot get back that could have been used to build a true asset. Now days it’s too convenient to simply charge it, put it on credit to get what we want now. However, with more freedom and access to credit, more restraint needs to be practiced to prevent us from becoming a slave to our credit. As they say, money is a great servant, but a bad master. By not practicing self discipline in any respect, whether it be money or not you yourself become servant to your insatiable desires and will never accomplish your true goals. Instead you will sell yourself cheap for a temporary thrill at the expense of long lasting happiness. Today lenders want to provide you all the credit in the world if you are willing to trade your time for momentary pleasures. Being able to afford monthly payments does not equate to being able to afford something. You need to seriously asses if you want to sell that much of your precious time and if the benefit is worthwhile, keep in mind the saying “now day’s people know the cost of everything, but the value of nothing”. That being said, if we discipline our self to acquire and build assets with true value that will pay us money as opposed to purchasing liabilities that cost us money or material possessions that don’t provide us affordable utility. Working smarter and knowing where to put our effort to most efficiently acquire what we want while selling the least amount of our time should be part of our plans to get what we want. We all have wants, desires and goals we wish to accomplish. However keep in mind when trying to make your desires a reality, “It’s neither what you know or who you know, but How bad you want it”. A question to think about is have you ever decided to change your motivation level or how bad you want certain items? As your discipline increases it allows you to better prioritize and separate your needs from your wants. It also allows you to take on more responsibilities, which lead to more success when you choose the correct responsibilities. You could have the most intelligent individual who can draft a plan to wealth that would actually work if followed to make them a wealthy individual. However if that person was missing the self discipline to actually follow through with their plan they would never realize their goals. Today many of us have dreams and ambitions, some have gone so far as to learn all the requirements, crafted an amazing plan to get there, then stopped short of following through. So on discipline, ensure you are motivated first of all, ensure you are determined and lastly but most importantly have the patience to delay immediate gratification and work on those tasks that will pay off most even when you do not want to.
